11:00 - 12:00     India's Digital Evolution
The consumption of music in India has already undergone a drastic change in the last few years. People are no longer heavily dependent on the physical format to listen to music, and the digital platform is what is going to drive patterns of consumption of music in the next few years. The mobile phone has already played a key role in defining how and what consumers want, and this sector can throw up a vast array of possibilities. How geared are music labels, telecom companies, content aggregators and service providers to take advantage of the changing scenario? Which are the most viable options ahead? What are the roadblocks envisaged on the journey to digital? What are the value adds mobile / digital can offer the consumer?

12:00 - 12:45    Live, Loud and Local?
Globally, the live music industry has stuck two fingers up at  the global downturn and recorded year on year growth.  The live music scene in India, however, has been shackled for long due to a variety of reasons - government regulations, ticketing problems, tax issues as well as audience apathy. What can be learned from around the world and how can live music be leveraged to encourage the consumption of music in India? Can India welcome more international artistes? Can Indian artistes/bands be promoted with innovative 360 degree approaches?

12:45 - 13:15    Advertising & Music - Will Boy meet Girl?
Rather like the storyline of many a Bollywood epic, the music industry has long courted the advertising industry for marriage. But, with the exception of a handful of brands, it hasn’t been as successful as one would have expected. With the growth of ad funded music services, globally advertising is predicted to be the holy grail for the music industry so what can we do in India to help the boy meet girl (and maybe steal a kiss behind the fountain?

Speaking on behalf of the music industry Seregama’s MD Apurva Nagpal will lay out all that is good for advertisers and sponsors whilst Vikram Sakhuja Group M’s India CEO (himself no stranger to supporting the music industry through his time with Coca-Cola) will speak on behalf of the advertising industry, telling us what it will take to close the deal before we throw it to the audience to help arrange this marriage!

Music needs media and media needs music but how can both make money? Films, radio, television, the internet. What are the synergies that can be reached between the music industry players and media so that both can reap greater dividends. Today, most media have a symbiotic but grudging rapport with the labels. How can the grudges be smoothened out? How can media better promote different kinds of music apart from just Bollywood music?

16.30 - 17.30   It's about music
The core of the music industry is its content. Music that is created by the musicians, packaged and presented by the labels, channeled through media. What is driving the music scene in India? Is it still Bollywood all the way and how can we capitalize on Slumdog’s success? Recognition is coming in for creative Indian music on global platforms as well.  Is there enough talent that can be exploited? Is it getting the right forums? Are labels open to experimenting with genres, voices? Can Indian music be promoted more aggressively to the outside world? How?
